Ayahuasca is much more than a simple remedy. It is an entheogenic shamanic drink that affects the body and mind. Ayahuasca cleanses, regenerates, and heals the body. It gives the mind visions and insights. Ayahuasca reveals illnesses and the origins of suffering. This also gives us the antidote to combat the causes of our suffering.
Feel the revitalizing healing power of ayahuasca in our unique ayahuasca ceremonies. Recent studies prove that ayahuasca therapy can heal people with depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), mood disorders and addictions.
Experience the healing magic of ayahuasca with us in the jungle of Colombia through three different ceremonies. In the Putumayo jungle, follow in the footsteps of the experience of our Taitas and their shamanic healing arts, handed down over the centuries.
If you would like to book a private ayahuasca ceremony with friends, family or even a very personal ceremony for your own experience, this is a special opportunity for you.
The origin of Ayahuasca lies in the shamanic religions of the Amazon region and other parts of South America – including Colombia. The Amazon is considered a forest of healing springs and it is a divine pharmacy. Countries where Ayahuasca is taken for medicinal purposes in a ceremony include Brazil, Peru and Colombia. Traditional traditions, experiences, and centuries-old knowledge of the shamans are incorporated into the preparation of the medicine that is administered during an Ayahuasca ceremony. Below describes exactly what is contained in the medicine, how it is used during the ceremony, how its effects can be explained, and whether it is dangerous.
Essentially, Ayahuasca consists of two different plants; the Ayahuasca vine (Banisteriopsis caapi) and the Chacruna leaves (Diplopterys cabrerana).
Chacruna – Latin for psychotria viridis – is a plant growing in South America that contains the ingredient dimethyltryptamine (DMT). DMT is a tryptamine alkaloid that has psychoactive effects. The substance is usually broken down by the body in a short time, which is prevented by the addition of Caapi.
The Caapi – Latin for complete banisteriopsis caapi – is a type of liana that contains MAO inhibitors. These monoamine oxidase inhibitors belong to the harmane alkaloids and delay the breakdown of DMT.
We only use the best medicine from the Putumayo jungle in our Ayahuasca ceremonies; from our Taitas, with whom we have been working for over 15 years.
Our participants have already had experience with Ayahuasca medicine and therefore have some exciting success stories to tell about the ceremony and their retreat. We hope you enjoy watching the videos!
Experience the healing power of Ayahuasca with our unique ceremonies in Colombia. Embark on a journey into yourself.
In shamanic traditions, Ayahuasca is taken in rituals and ceremonies to open a gateway to the soul and bring about spiritual experiences. In our Ayahuasca ceremonies we drink the Ayahuasca as part of a traditional ceremony. As our Taitas from the Putumayo jungle taught us, with respect, peace, and good faith.
Shamanism is an empirical science. This means that only experience counts, not mere belief, as in religion, for example.
Anyone who wants to plunge into this adventure will be gifted with many answers.
Our Ayahuasca ceremonies take place in a protected spiritual space so you can have a safe, transformative experience. In addition, we accompany you on your innermost journey with music. This creates a harmonious atmosphere in the Ayahuasca ceremony that can help to address and heal deep-rooted emotional and psychological problems.
You can now experience our Ayahuasca ceremonies in several locations around the world. But if you would like to dive deeper into the knowledge of Ayahuasca medicine and also discover the breathtaking nature of Colombia, then you are welcome to accompany us on our journey into the jungle with Taitas in Mocoa, in the heart of Putumayo.
We will take you to the rainforest of Colombia, where our Taitas (medicine men and women) have been preparing the Ayahuasca drink for healing purposes for generations, and we will also accompany you to three different Ayahuasca ceremonies on site.
Since the Ayahuasca experiences during your retreat can be very intense, you should prepare well for the Ayahuasca ceremony. If possible, the body should also be detoxified beforehand; however, dieting or strict fasting are not necessary in most cases. You should not eat anything about six hours before the Ayahuasca ceremony and you should drink a lot of water. Drugs of any kind – including nicotine and alcohol – are strictly taboo. Psychotropic drugs (antidepressants) and other medications must also not be taken. The effects of antidepressants can cause death during an Ayahuasca ceremony.
If you need to take medication, please let us know when you make your retreat reservation. Due to our experience with Ayahuasca medicine, we want to offer you the safest experience during our ceremonies.
Taking Ayahuasca in a ceremony can sometimes allow participants to have profound spiritual experiences – without being dangerous. The effects usually begin after 30 to 90 minutes and can last for a few hours. Most of the time it is between six and twelve hours. By increasing the dosage, i.e. by drinking several cups, the duration of the effect can be extended. This is not dangerous. Ayahuasca can cause an expansion of consciousness and open the door to the subconscious; similar to therapy. This increases emotional and self-reflective perception, which is why participants in the Ayahuasca ceremony can confront their own self and get to know themselves thoroughly. This is often a very upsetting and emotional process because the actual personality becomes visible; detached from all externally imposed conditioning, expectations and oppression. These can be identified, checked and, if necessary, discarded. So-called shadow issues and suppressed trauma become recognizable and can be treated. The Ayahuasca ceremony also helps against depression and stress; Suppressed emotions such as anger and sadness are released and mental wounds and anxiety disorders can finally find healing. When working with Ayahuasca medicine, the ceremonies are a form of therapy. The cost of the ceremony for one night or even an entire retreat is cheaper than the prices for long-term psychotherapy.
Taking Ayahuasca can also have psychological and physical effects. Nausea and vomiting are particularly common at the beginning of the ceremony. Other effects include sweating and freezing. For this reason, Ayahuasca should definitely be taken in a ceremony under the supervision and guidance of experienced shamans and should never be taken independently, as this can be really dangerous!

While the use of Ayahuasca is legal in many countries in South America, this is not the case in Germany, even though Ayahuasca is not a drug. This is due to the composition of the Caapi and Chacruna described above. Because Chacruna contains DMT – it is subject to the German Narcotics Act, and is not marketable in this country. DMT is a metabolic product that every living being around the world can produce. So it’s not dangerous at all. However, the effect only occurs twice in life, at birth and at death.
You can’t just buy Ayahuasca, or attend any ceremonies in Germany. The situation is different internationally, for example in the United States: In the USA, Ayahuasca is permitted in a religious context during an Ayahuasca retreat.
The legal situation described above does not allow Ayahuasca ceremonies to be held in Germany. Regardless of this, we strongly advise not to take any Ayahuasca in Germany – possibly even spontaneously, alone and without experience! This is very dangerous and Ayahuasca should always be taken in a retreat with experienced shamans.
The effects of Ayahuasca can be very intense and profound. Therefore, the medicine should only be taken under supervision and professional guidance. In addition, conscious preparation and thorough follow-up are essential. In recent years, the option of an Ayahuasca retreat has become increasingly popular. Anyone interested, can experience a sacred Ayahuasca ceremony in a protected environment with careful preparation within the countries of origin; for example here in Colombia.

Here you will find all the answers to the questions we receive most frequently.
What is Ayahuasca and what ingredients does it contain?
Ayahuasca is a medicine that unfolds its effects not only on a physical but also on a psychological level in the brain. Although it is often mistakenly referred to as a drug, it is in fact a shamanic healing art that is becoming increasingly well-known internationally. This may be due not least to the fact that Ayahuasca offers the possibility of curing depression, psychosis or other mental illnesses. An Ayahuasca experience reveals paths that would possibly never arise in conventional therapy.
The ingredients of Ayahuasca medicine are made up of two different herbal components – caapi (the Ayahuasca root or liana) and chacruna. Chacruna, which contains DMT, is responsible for the psychoactive effect of Ayahuasca. While DMT as an endogenous substance is generally broken down very quickly, the Ayahuasca plant caapi with MAO inhibitors ensures that the breakdown of DMT is slowed down during the Ayahuasca ceremony.
However, the special thing about Ayahuasca tea are not the ingredients, but the unique consciousness of the Ayahuasca, whose spirit can gradually be transferred to your body.
What does Ayahuasca do and what effect does it have on the brain?
Ayahuasca unfolds a profound change of consciousness in your mindset and has an effect on your brain that helps you to recognize and overcome old or toxic habits. The medicine strengthens your emotional and self-reflective perception and gives you a deep inner knowing. The effect of the Ayahuasca plant sets in after 30 to 40 minutes. The peak – the spiritual climax, so to speak – of an Ayahuasca experience is usually reached after 90 to 120 minutes. The duration of the effect is around 4 hours, but can also last up to 12 hours.
Ayahuasca cleanses you both physically and mentally. You will meet yourself in the process. The Ayahuasca ceremony shows you all your sides, including the unpleasant aspects. It is a self-critical encounter in which you can feel a deep respect for life and nature. The harmony of nature around you will probably also be part of your experience. In the Ayahuasca ceremonies during your retreat, the medicine will help you to strengthen your own emotional health and mental clarity. Each process is a highly individual matter. During your personal Ayahuasca experience you can experience many things – from insights, shattering experiences, inner wars, rebirths, near-death experiences, enlightenments, to unbearable bliss. You can find, meet and strengthen yourself. Some of your realizations may also appear after the Ayahuasca ceremony. The after-effects of the medicine are different for each person, and it is possible that you will deepen and internalize your Ayahuasca experience even more in the days following the ceremony.
How do I prepare for an Ayahuasca ceremony?
The most important thing when preparing to take Ayahuasca is to have a positive mindset! However, there are also further recommendations for preparing for an Ayahuasca ceremony. These include a diet in which you avoid lactose and meat for at least 3 days prior to your ceremony, as these foods are somewhat heavier on the stomach. This category also includes spicy food such as onions, citrus fruits and garlic. Take these recommendations into account so that you feel well during your Ayahuasca ceremony. You should not consume any strong drugs or marijuana for at least a week prior to the ceremony. It is best to avoid any kind of sexual intercourse in the days leading up to your ceremony, as this creates an energy exchange. When the wisdom of the medicine receives you, you want to be surrounded by your own aura. This way, the effect of the Ayahuasca plant will unfold its full power to you.
Are you taking antidepressants or do you have heart or respiratory problems? Then please consult your doctor before your Ayahuasca ceremony. Only they can assess whether taking Ayahuasca is dangerous for you or whether side effects may occur.
If you follow these preparations, you will be ready for your Ayahuasca experience and this is your sign that you should finally book your Ayahuasca trip.
