Ayahuasca is not just the Ayahuasca plant itself, but is a mixture of different active ingredients from South American medicinal plants. Ayahuasca should be considered a medicine, however, it has usually been seen as a drug. The Chacruna, which contains DMT, is responsible for the psychoactive effect of Ayahuasca. DMT breaks down very quickly in the body. The Ayahuasca counteracts this process by mixing Chacruna with Caapi. Banisteriopsis Caapi contains Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs), which slow down the breakdown of DMT.
This mixture of South American medicinal plants is the traditional preparation of Ayahuasca. However, there are some other combinations of herbal components that have a similar effect. Essentially, the process of production of Ayahuasca is about combining two plants – one containing DMT and one containing MAO inhibitors (Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors). Some alternative ingredients for Ayahuasca that can also be used as MAO inhibitors are, for example, the mimosa or Peganum harmala seeds.

This is how Ayahuasca medicine works
The effect of Ayahuasca is strongly mind-expanding. It’s like looking at yourself in a mirror. You can see which beliefs and conditioning determine your own life. Most of the times, these limitations prevent us from being the best version of ourselves. Realizing that these beliefs exist at all is the first step in letting them go. Ayahuasca not only helps to see all these toxic beliefs, but also to decode them. The sacred medicine prepares the path to improve one’s life.
Ayahuasca can help to deal with stress, overload, fears, depression, apathy, inner dissatisfaction, lack of empathy, sadness, anger, broken relationships and much more.
Taking Ayahuasca is a very personal experience and shows the participant what she or he really needs to experience in order to advance in personal development.
The preparation of the Ayahuasca medicine
The preparation of Ayahuasca is a sacred process that involves boiling medicine for at least 20 hours. This period of time does not include the previous collection process of this South American medicinal plant. The methods of preparation that ourshamans use take approximately 20 days. With this cooking process, the effect of Ayahuasca is intensified and the intention of this sacred medicine is potentiated. After this, Ayahuasca Tigre is preserved. On the day of ceremony and consumption, it is between ten and twenty years old. During this period of time, Ayahuasca has further developed the energy of South American medicinal plants contained in the medicine. It is a living remedy.
The preparation of Ayahuasca not only requires a lot of time, but is also physically demanding. Due to their thickness, Caapi branches are very resistant and must be loosened with a blunt object.
The state of consciousness with which Ayahuasca is prepared is also largely responsible for the effect. Therefore, a wise shaman, with a high level of awareness, pays close attention to the energy with which he prepares Ayahuasca and what intention he incorporates into the process.
Preparing for our Ayahuasca medicine
An experience with Ayahuasca medicine is very personal or even life changing. So please prepare well for it. It is of utmost importance that you do not take any psychotropic drugs (i.e. antidepressants or similar) while undergoing a process with the Ayahuasca ceremony. However, the compatibility of all medications in connection with the ceremony of Ayahuasca must be checked in advance.
The diet before and after your Ayahuasca experience is also important and should be as natural as possible. Some people avoid meat and cheese before taking Ayahuasca, although it is not strictly necessary. In Colombia, for example, animal products (apart from red meat) are eaten, also in combination with the intake of Ayahuasca. Likewise, it is recommended to avoid candies and coffee. You should definitely not use drugs of any kind or cigarettes if you want to really focus on Ayahuasca.
You should also avoid sex, because this creates a very strong exchange of energy. This helps you to explore and experience your own energy in your personal experience with Ayahuasca.
At least 6 hours before the Ayahuasca ceremony, you should stop eating and drink plenty of water. If you wish, you can fast before the ceremony. However, you should only do it if you have already thoroughly learned the practice of fasting and have solid experience. Make sure you’re feeling empowered and ready to experience a potentially life-changing night with the Ayahuasca medicine.
Your transformation through Ayahuasca medicine
Ayahuasca has many different ways to present a healing effect on us humans. Basically, an Ayahuasca ceremony is about how the head, body and spirit become one (mind-body-spirit connection). Drinking Ayahuasca supports your personal transformation process.
But what does a transformation really mean and what does it generate? A transformation is like the metamorphosis of a butterfly, shedding all the old layers. In this process you will be able to decode your fears and free yourself from them. You dissolve old traumas and heal long repressed family problems. You will recognize the people who give you strength and those who take it from you. You have the power to shape your energetic environment according to your own values and desires. If you carry love within you and radiate it, you will be surrounded by loving people.

Duration of the effect of Ayahuasca medicine
The effect of Ayahuasca lasts about 4-6 hours. In most Ayahuasca ceremonies there is the opportunity to drink several cups of Ayahuasca to deepen the process. However, the duration and intensity of Ayahuasca medicine varies from person to person.
Our experienced and wise shamans know how much Ayahuasca they can pour. After the Ayahuasca ceremony, there is usually a cleansing of the mind. After that, you can leave the ceremonial room.
It often happens that Ayahuasca is present in your dreams for several days after the ceremony. This way, you may be able to go even deeper into certain subjects.
Possible side effects of Ayahuasca medicine
In an Ayahuasca ceremony, you always start with a hangover and then move to more and more positive levels of consciousness. With drugs, usually this pattern of behavior is the other way around.
A side effect of taking Ayahuasca can be nausea with vomiting. This side effect is the most common, although it does not always occur. Vomiting is essential for the process of physical and mental transformation. If you don’t dare to vomit, consider it the origin of your aversions. The idea that this is a bad thing comes from Western society. However, there is no reason to see it that way. The foods you eat on a regular basis sometimes poison you from the inside (for example, through pesticides, etc.). Our shamans know the healing effects of vomiting as a bodily function. Therefore, to detoxify themselves, they drink a pure emetic substance every two months.
Vomiting can also be seen as a representation of letting go of old thoughts, conditioning and negative beliefs. Afterwards you feel relieved and the process transforms mainly into increasingly comfortable levels of consciousness. The challenge is to let go of the old so that something new can emerge. Other side effects of Ayahuasca can be sweating and tremors.
Always trust that our shamans have the full picture of what happens in the room in every Ayahuasca ceremony. We support you in your process if you need us.
